I... love it here.
Today we just drove around the city. It's beautiful. There are real parks, and the trees are beautiful, and the leaves are changing color. There's so much history. I love that there are huge, sleek, glass buildings next to old, brickwork. I could just.... stare.
And it's quiet. It's the oddest thing. Nice. We were driving around with the windows down, and when we would stop, you could just hear the wind. There was no music blaring, no people yelling, just quiet sounds of the city breathing along.
A part of me just wants to stay here. To just fast forward, sink in my roots right now.
I could stay here and I wouldn't have to try and figure out the way that I feel
Or worry about what you think of me
I could meet brand new people who've never hurt my heart
Or knew things about me before they even met me
They wouldn't know anything personal unless I told them
And no one would have to be friendly out of obligation
And I wouldn't be able to repeat the past and make the same mistakes with anyone, because there wouldn't be any past to repeat.
I could do that.
But having a past means having a family
and friends that are worth fighting with
and hugging in the hallways
having a past means caring where you sit in class
and smiling when you think about... people.
This will be my home soon enough
but until then, I'm going to stare at the beautiful architecture
and smile when I think about you
take pictures of everything
and miss my friends like crazy
